Dream Theater has finally announced that Mike Mangini (Annihilator/Extreme)will be replacing Mike Portnoy as their new drummer. This guy set five world records for the fastest drummer in the world five times in a three year span. They’ve got quite the musician on board, but time will tell if he can fill the void Mike left. Not only was he a drummer, but he was a huge part of musical arrangements, lyrics, artwork, and just about everything dealing with the band. There’s still no clear indication of who will be the new “voice” of the band, since Portnoy was heralded as leader by us fans.
Ill Nino is going to be filming a second video for their album Dead New World. They’re asking their fans what song they think should be chosen. Head on over to their facebook and vote for your favorite song!
The Smashing Pumpkins are remastering and rereleasing all their old albums. Singer Billy Corgan is also working on a book about the band.
In a battle against the world’s corrution, Muse will take the stage alongside Rage Against the Machine and emcee Immortal Technique. Should be an interesting concert to say the least.
Seether’s new album Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray is coming out next week. Check for it on itunes and in stores everywhere.
KoRn released “Get Up” on itunes today. I have no idea why they did that AFTER giving it away for free. Maybe they don’t care about making money off of it. More rock and metal news coming your way soon enough.
