Continuing his conversation with Global Grind, 50 Cent comments on Lil Wayne’s close to a million Tha Carter IV sales for the first time. He isn’t talking rocket science since a lot of commoners questioned the huge sales keeping in mind the quality of the actual album.

“To be honest with you, the Lil Wayne sales are a little suspect to me. Because it was trending 600,000 pieces that week. And they didn’t do a million copies, it was like 900,000.”

When Global Grind mentioned Tha Carter III which did a milli in the 1st week back in 2008, 50 gave credit to Wayne:

“Tha Carter III was definitely hot. He did that. Tha Carter III commanded that energy, but the last one that just came out, those numbers are funny.”

Jay Z thinks marijuana has made hip-hop more ‘mellow’.

The ’99 Problems’ hitmaker believes the genre has changed over the years to become less intense, and thinks that is due to the drug consumption of some of his peers.

He said: ‘Public Enemy were a great force in the 80s. Chuck D was a powerful speaker and a great thinker. The intensity of life on the street in the 80s is right there in that mix. Hip hop sounds get mellower in the 90s, when people started smoking more weed.’

The 40-year-old star also admitted movies have been a huge influence on his music as they helped him make sense of the crime-ridden area of New York he grew up in.

He told Q magazine: ‘I think films are a major influence on any rapper. One of the ways you deal with your surroundings is almost to imagine you are in a drama on the big screen. It sounds crazy but it can help you survive to see yourself in terms of a story.

‘You could write a whole book on what hip hop has taken from ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Scarface’ and all those gangster films.’

Close to one million copies of Tha Carter IV sold in its first-week hasn’t made hip-hop’s hardest working MC relax at all. Lil Wayne is already recording his next album. While the next two Carter albums (CV and CVI) and a sequel to Rebirth are definitely coming down the pipeline in the future, Young Money president Mack Maine says Weezy is focused on group efforts right now.

“The next project he’s working on is I Can’t Feel My Face with [Juelz Santana],” Maine told XXLMag.com over the phone. “Elz is talented man. He’s a young legend. [Wayne’s] back working in the studio. He has that and the Young Money album.”

Wayne and Santana began working on the I Cant Feel My Face album over five-years ago. Just about all the songs they did together leaked out on mixtapes, but an official LP never came to fruition. Now, the two friends have decided to give the project another try and obviously work on all new material. There is no release date for that long talked about effort, however, Mack says that another Wayne spearheaded disc will probably drop before the end of this year. Weezy and his YM signees are once again planning another family LP to follow up 2009’s gold selling LP, We Are Young Money.

“We haven’t actually recorded one verse for that album,” Mack said. “When we were on tour, we said we’re gonna wait until we get back to Miami to get everybody out there. We have one more show in Hawaii then we’ll start recording. It wont take long. Too much creativity for it to take a long time.

“If you follow our artists, you always see Gudda saying he’s in the studio,” Mack added, noting his family’s relentless work ethic. “Drake’s working on his new album now. In between he’ll be touring to promote it. Nicki works her ass off. She just came off tour with us and jumped right on the tour with Britney Spears. Tyga’s on tour with Chris Brown and trying to work on his album. Gudda, Millz, Lil Chuckee [they’re all] working. They all following the format. Wayne set a standard and they all trying to follow that.”

The DMV native talks his upcoming release, as well as future projects.

With an upcoming album in Ambition, Wale has provided some details on his first Maybach Music Group solo release to Albany’s Scott Radio.

“DJ Toomp, Tone P, Tha Bizness…we kept the production [to a limited number of producers], I didn’t want to be all over the place,” explained the Washington, D.C. native of his album’s cohesive sound. “It’s one of them projects that sounds solid, like a body of work.”

Wale also spoke on songs he looks forward to having his fans hear. “I got a lot of ‘em. ‘No Days Off,’ ‘Sabotage,’ ‘Flower Bomb,’ ‘D.C. or Nothing.’ …Every song sounds like a commercial for a feeling.”

Wale also revealed that he intends to work with Mark Ronson again. The pair collaborated on Wale’s 100 Miles & Running, The Mixtape About Nothing, and Attention Deficit. “That’s my guy. I’m looking forward to doing another project with him. After this album is due, I should be doing a project with Mark.”

Well, as you all know, Floyd Mayweather was victorious against Victor Ortiz last night. It was a very controversial round 4 KO.  Floyd was winning the fight by landing more punches cleanly, mostly right hands. Floyd was real sharp and elusive as usual. Victor did land some left hands and some body shots. However, Floyd made him miss a lot, just as I predicted earlier. Victor Ortiz best moments came when he had Floyd against the ropes. Although, he didn’t connect as much as the crowd thought he did.

Victor became frustrated after he couldn’t land punches while Floyd was against the ropes. Ortiz, intentionally headbutted Floyd which lead to the ref breaking up the fight and deducting a point. Ortiz apologized and hugged Floyd. The ref was resuming the fight again. Victor apologized once again and Floyd brushed it off and was ready to fight. Floyd hit him with a left hook. Ortiz looked at the ref, then he was struck with a “vicious” right hand, no pun intended (see below).

Now I watched this about 10 or more times. I think it was a cheap shot, but Floyd is right. First rule of boxing is “protect yourself at ALL times. As a result, it was a rookie mistake on Ortiz’s part. Also, he had a chance to put his hands up after he was struck with the left hook, instead, he decides to look at the ref. That was his chance to recover and protect himself. In the end, I don’t feel sorry for Victor Ortiz. He started the entire situation by throwing a dirty headbutt. Floyd, decided to fight fire with fire and I don’t blame him. Someone said it best, “if you are the best in the world, you don’t have to win this way”, not with a sucker punch. I think Floyd would have came out on top anyway. He was up according to the judges. He landed more punches and power shots. At the end of the day, you get it how you live and it was a legal shot. Once you touch gloves, it’s time to fight. Floyd caught Mosley with a shot like this in his last fight; the difference is that Ortiz went down and Mosley didn’t.

I paid $60 for the fight and I don’t feel like a was cheated. I’m just upset on how Ortiz handled the situation. I am a Floyd Mayweather fan and I think he is one of the greatest. However, Ortiz was smiling after he got knocked out. Where they do that at!!!? He wasn’t even upset. He took the knock out, as if, everything is fine. It’s not fine, (Chris Tucker voice) you just got knocked the fuck out. He was grinning like he was the happiest man in the world after a loss. If I was Ortiz, I would have been livid. I would have called Floyd out on that bullshit. Ortiz took the loss gladly. I guess it is not about winning anymore; it’s about the big payday.

In conclusion, what Floyd did was classless, but it was legal. It’s all fair in love and war. He tried to take out Floyd with the dirty headbutt, so it’s only right. As I stated before, Ortiz did have time to defend himself. You live and you learn. Well, this should line up the big fight we all have been waiting for, Pacquiao vs Mayweather. First, Manny will have to take care of business in November against his nemesis, Juan Manuel Marquez. And I think Manny will win easily. The only way Floyd can shut everybody up is knocking out Manny Pacquiao. I don’t want to see another Mayweather fight unless he fights Pacquiao. Hopefully, they can get this fight booked for boxing fans around the world.

Jadakiss is in no hurry to release his next LP, Top Five Dead or Alive. The beloved Yonkers vet tells XXLMag.com that he’s biding his time, instead tiding fans over with an abundance of guest verses on songs from a long list of hip-hop and R&B heavyweights, as well as a new installment of his The Champ is Here mixtape series with DJ Green Lantern.

“I’m on [Young Jeezy’s] TM 103 joint [and] Estelle,” Jada revealed about the tracks listeners will be able to hear him on soon. “I just did something for Bow Wow. [I’m] waiting for this joint from Drake, [Styles P] just finished his album, I’m on there. I’m just creeping through the back door on big projects. Getting that buzz up before I let the album out. It gotta feel right before I let my album out. I’m not rushing.”

Along with the features galore, Kiss also promised to deliver the fourth installment of his The Champ is Here franchise to coincide with the next big boxing bout.

“I was trying to schedule that whenever the [Manny] Pacquio fight comes, try to knock a few joints out, or the next biggest fight,” he said. “But yeah, we gonna keep the joints coming. The Champ is Here is just like Rocky—it’s timeless. We gonna do the Champ series for a long time; as long as my vocals are right.”

If you’ve been wondering why you haven’t seen the cover art or tracklisting for Young Jeezy’s TM 103, there’s a good reason. The Atlanta rapper’s album has been pushed back once again.

The Snowman’s long-delayed LP TM 103: Hustlerz Ambition will no longer be dropping on September 20. The push-back is the latest in a series of delays that began in 2009. So far, the album has spawned the singles “Ballin’” featuring Lil Wayne and “Shake Life.” A new date has not been announced.

Jeezy, who just came off a nationwide tour, originally announced the September 20 date at his six-year anniversary show in New York in July. He later explained the reason behind the delay.

“I’ma keep it real. At the time, you know I had to go live life,” he previously told Hot 93.7’s Jenny Boom Boom. “I was on two big tours [with Lil Wayne and Jay-Z], so I was just doing a lot of rapper things. I get my music from the streets and livin’—and I didn’t live. I didn’t do Jeezy. I was doing Young Jeezy, the rapper, but I wasn’t doing Jeezy. So I went back home and kinda just got out and started moving around. It just all came together.”

To tide fans over, Jeezy recently released his mixtape The Real Is Back 2 featuring Birdman, Freddie Gibbs, and Yo Gotti.

The G.O.O.D. Music signee has recently inked a solo deal with Def Jam Records. As of now, his next solo project, Fear of God 2: Let Us Pray has no release date, but it should be coming soon. Congrats Pusha.

“Solidifying my first solo venture, G.O.O.D Music/DefJam is my home. That machine with my creativity is gonna make for satisfied hiphop fans,” said Pusha.

Looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for the I’ma Boss remix (which includes Jay-Z, Diddy and Swizz Beatz), as Meek revealed to VIBE that he wants to see if the recently released King wants in. Hopefully he does (and comes correct) as it would be a great re-introduction to the game.
