Guest Star Banner cormega 1 Cormega: If Youre A Hip Hop & You Dont Like Lil B, You Should At Least Respect Him

[With the recent backlash West Coast rapper Lil B has received this summer, an unexpected supporter in the form of rap veteran Cormega stands by Based God.]

There’s definitely mutual respect between me and Lil B. The problem with hip-hop has been divisions. Division is the devil’s wrath. There’s race division, class division and now we have generation division.

We have situations where there are artists that are legends or old school criticizing some of the younger artists and you also have some of the younger artists calling certain artists old and disrespecting them to defend themselves when in reality a conversation with them would work wonders. The same way you could sit there and say a dude sucks, you having a conversation with that artist telling them what you think they’re doing wrong or how they should be doing something would go a lot further instead of critcism.

lil wayne 333x499 Did The Carter 4 Leak Kill Waynes Chance At Crushing The Throne?

Damn. Cole World. Just days before Weezy’s highly anticipated Carter 4 was set to drop, the album found its way online and became available to the world via free download.

Be clear: The Carter 4 is out. Unofficially. And if illegal downloads counted toward moved units, there’s a very good chance its headed toward gold at this very moment.

Speaking of gold status, Watch The Throne recently earned a gold plaque — nearly two weeks after its release. Considering there was no leak up to the night of its release, many expected it would sell alot more, alot sooner.

Drake answered the question cleverly, stating that he is neutral. How does President Carter feel about this? Will he pull a Curtis Jackson and say that Drake’s need to ride or die with him no matter what?

mobb deep featured Mobb Deep To Announce New Album, Label Home Shortly

Mobb Deep say they are just a few days away from announcing their new record deal and a few months away from putting out a new album.

“Hopefully if not [this year], early next year,” Havoc told XXLMag.com when asked when him and Prodigy’s next LP would be released.

In the meantime, the duo will be dropping off a gift strictly for the streets.

“We’re gonna be doing a mixtape and stuff like that,” Hav added. “We’re gonna be dropping a new song in a few days. It’s gonna be nice!”

Since Prodigy came home earlier this year after serving three years in prison for a gun possession charge he and Hav been recording endlessly.

Rakim 500x301 Rakim Says He Will Never Cater To Hip Hop Trends, Speaks On The Seventh Seal

The God MC says his last album was an attempt at a “conscious” release and that he’s ready to get back to having fun on his next LP.

With his most recent release The Seventh Seal dropping in 2009, Rakim faced some criticism for the album’s content and aesthetic, a chance he knew he was taking. Speaking with splash! Mag TV, the God MC explained that he didn’t let fans’ negative reactions to the album get to him and that he would never sacrifice his style to adapt to the times.

“You care about it, but you don’t let it do nothing to you. It’s rap, it’s an album, some people will like it, some people won’t. Hip Hop is so diverse and mixed right now, you have a lot of fans who like radio-friendly Hip Hop. I don’t do that. You have a lot of fans who like pop Hip Hop. I don’t do that. You got a lot of fans that like different styles,” he said. “I’m from my era, I’m known for doing a certain kind of music. I don’t want to switch off and do what Lil Wayne is doing. That ain’t Rakim. I can’t switch off and do what Wiz Khalifa’s doing. That’s not Rakim. It’s hard trying to keep up with what’s going on and still keep your integrity and keep your logo and your brand of who you are with these times. I made a statement. Definitely wanted to bring about that awareness with a conscious album.”

The Seventh Seal, which bowed at No. 61 on the Billboard 200 with 12,000 copies sold in its first week, was Rakim’s attempt to make what he claims is a “conscious album.”

“I wanted to do a conscious album. There’s zero conscious in the hood right now, zero conscious in Hip Hop right now. But as far as Rakim, I had to do what I felt people expected from me, made a big statement. It’s good that I got that off my chest. Now, I can get back in the studio and have a little fun and not worry about having so many responsibilities and weight on my back.”

Noreaga 08 18 2011 N.O.R.E. Speaks On Not Being Acknowledged By Pharrell, What Caused Him To Disband C N N

N.O.R.E. says Capone stood him up at a show in Queensbridge, discusses his relationship with producer Pharrell Williams.

New York City rapper and former Capone-N-Noreaga member N.O.R.E. made an appearance on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club yesterday (August 17) for an almost 20-minute long interview that touched on everything from his relationship with Pharrell Williams to the end of Capone-N-Noreaga.

The interview kicked off with N.O.R.E. once again addressing the beef that came about with the release of Prodigy’s book “My Infamous Life.”

“At the end of the day Prodigy didn’t lie he exaggerated. Lying is ‘Yo, I was at The Breakfast Club show [and] I killed the show.’ And I never came up here,” N.O.R.E. explained. “At the end of the day, and I mean no disrespect to him, it’s like you ever see these kids from Long Island and they really don’t know the ghetto? But they come to the ghetto and they feel like they’re so much a part of the ghetto. So they see the ghetto [and] they actually love it. When you from the ghetto you don’t love it. You don’t even like it. So that’s what I think. I think he was hype, gassed on his self, and at the time he wrote it we weren’t gonna be friends.”

Later in the interview N.O.R.E. went on to speak on his relationship with rapper/producer Pharrell and how he never seemed to be acknowledged for helping launch Pharrell and The Neptunes’ music career with “Superthug.”
