Jay Shine aka Shiney (Joseph Torregano) began rapping since he was in elementary school.  Shiney grew up in one of New Orleans toughest neighborhoods in the 7th ward (Lapeyrouse and Dorgenois) streets. In 1999 he was signed to No limit Records which is one of New Orleans major record labels.

In 1999 Jay Shine and Tru Down South joined together to create a rap group called Shine Boyz. Their 1st album was “Give It To Em”. Jay Shine is currently signed with Monsta Muzak Productions. Jay Shine has worked with Mannie Fresh, Mac, Mr Serv On, Currency, Young Mugs, Sess 45, Big Ramp, DJ Black and Mild, DJ Raj Smoove, 6 Shot, J.a.g, Big Chan from Doggy’s Angels and the Monsta Muzak Producers Reem and Joe- Mills and the list continues. Jay Shine has done shows in Atlanta, Houston, New Orleans, Lafayette, Slidell Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, and New York.


His 1st solo album “King of the Underground” was a major success in Jay Shine’s music career.


But in 2005 Shiney was a victim of Hurricane Katrina. Jay Shine lost everything that he had. During the toughest time of his life Shiney made a vow to keep doing what he loved… and that’s performing.


Shiney continues to shine with his forthcoming album “Get It Right Chere” Songs like 7th Ward Hard Head, Number’s Up, Lost It , Krayola and Sweet Sole` just to name a few have been major hits. He is currently in the studio working on another album “Da Grub”.


Shiney is truly has a place in the rap game. His lyrics and rap style is one of a kind. Shiney has proven that he is unstoppable and will continue to shine. Here is a couple of tracks to get a feel of his low and track presence…New Orleans Stand Up.

Oh yeah! Shiney is exactly what our city needs to put that SPARK back into the 504. The golden years of the NOLA on top has faded,(IMO). So, it’s good to put some life back into the culture that makes New Orleans, so rich and diverse. Roll with it Shiney!

Well, I remember the Simply Dope days when Jay and Nay used to do St.Aug talent shows. Anybody that has been in the game as long as you have and is still perservering deserves to get to the top. May Gods blessing surround you like a sheild and everything you touch prospers.
