Continuing his conversation with Global Grind, 50 Cent comments on Lil Wayne’s close to a million Tha Carter IV sales for the first time. He isn’t talking rocket science since a lot of commoners questioned the huge sales keeping in mind the quality of the actual album.
“To be honest with you, the Lil Wayne sales are a little suspect to me. Because it was trending 600,000 pieces that week. And they didn’t do a million copies, it was like 900,000.”
When Global Grind mentioned Tha Carter III which did a milli in the 1st week back in 2008, 50 gave credit to Wayne:
“Tha Carter III was definitely hot. He did that. Tha Carter III commanded that energy, but the last one that just came out, those numbers are funny.”
MTV reported from the sets of Tony Yayo’s ‘Haters’ that former Young Money affiliate Kidd Kidd has signed with 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records. The rapper who collaborated with 50 on a track called ‘Better Walk‘ late last year & also brought him out at his album release party in May 2011, is/was signed to Sha Money XL’s Dream Big Ventures. No further details are available at this point but stay tuned for more updates.
It’s good to see the homie Kid Kid from my hood 9th Ward B.A.M. making moves and getting signed. He put in work throughout the years with Lil Wayne and The Sqad. I wish him the best and 50 Cent is one of my favorite rappers. I hope he takes care him.
Former Young Money artist Kidd Kidd has confirmed weekend reports and speculation claiming he was riddled with gunshots while in New Orleans.
Kidd Kidd hit up Twitter on Sunday (June 12) to thank fans for their support.
“wuzzam man thank yall for keepin me in yall prayers n*gga hit me six times but dey aint stoppin nutin b*tch a** n*gga get ur refund I aint dead,” Kidd Kidd tweeted Sunday (June 12). (Kidd Kidd’s Twitter)
Details of what reportedly went down landed online early into the weekend.
According to the story, Kidd was en route to his mother’s house in N’awlins when a group of individuals ran up on him shooting him multiple times in a suspected robbery attempt. It’s all hearsay at this point, and we’ll likely never know the true cause for this, but there is good news shrouded in the sea of bullets. Reports saying that he will survive this incident. So there’s your silver lining if you were looking for one. (Karen Civil)
Last month, Kidd Kidd told SOHH about the difficulty in making it out of New Orleans.
After months of speculation, Southern rapper Shawty Lo has become the latest addition to 50 Cent’s growing G-Unit roster, which already consists of Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and DJ Pauly D.
While the exact terms of his deal are still under wraps, Shawty said 50 was the perfect candidate to bring his talents to.
“This is like something before the album, my new situation with G-Unit was just solidified and I got off the phone with 50 yesterday, I just signed a really large deal,” Shawty Lo said revealing plans to drop a new mixtape called B.H.F. “It’s like a new beginning and all I needed was someone behind me. 50 [Cent] is a marketing genius and I got my new thing D4L and G-Unit and we going to be working the South and the rest of the world if need be.” (All Hip Hop)
In March, Shawty revealed a sit down he had with 50. Read More
50 Cent mean mugged with Soulja Boy on his latest album The DeAndre Way, and now the student is returning the favor. The “Crank That” rapper has submitted beats for his mentor’s upcoming album.
“We were in California [last month] and 50 played his whole album, what he got so far,” Soulja told Rap-Up.com. “He was asking me for some beats, so I played some beats, gave him some beats. He’s got some tight beats from me too. I left him like five beats in California and he’s been recording on them.”
Soulja Boy, who recently shared his plans to collaborate with Drake, confirmed earlier reports that the G-Unit mogul’s fifth album would have a more soulful vibe. “That’s true. He has some soul and he has people singin’ the different hooks,” he shared. “But he’s smart though. It’s still 50, but it’s on another level now. You know where he comes from
The young rap star was impressed with what he heard. “His album was kinda dope. I ain’t gonna lie to you. That’s my big bro and all that. I got love for him. He’s got some good stuff on there.”
Mickey Rourke has had a strange career trajectory as of late, going from Oscar nominee for THE WRESTLER to bargain bin movie star in a relatively short amount of time.
The actor recently chatted openly and honestly with Vulture about his upcoming films, 13, where he co-stars with 50 Cent, and PASSION PLAY, with Bill Murray and Megan Fox. Neither look terribly good, but Rourke gives it to us straight about how bad they really are in this very terse interview.

The Biz: I gotta say I’m really feelin’ the fact that more educated brothers are getting involved in or openly supporting hip-hop. I was really blown away when I heard that J. Cole has a college degree and even more blown away when Obama casually talked about having Jay-Z in his ipod. That was just bananas. Now, I find myself listening to someone that comes from the same place I do that was once a middle school teacher. What do you think of this shift? Is this something you think is going to become more popular in contemporary hip-hop?
Dee-1: Yes. I know that whatever trend proves to be successful will inspire more people like that to come behind it. Look at the style Kanye came in the game with. He inspired a bunch of other rappers after him who had similar styles, stories, and fashion preferences. So I am glad that I am helping to restore some balance to hip hop. We need it.
The Biz: Another question: How did you transition from being a teacher to being a full fledged emcee anyway?
Dee-1: I had to become way more business minded because being an emcee became my only means for paying my bills. So I was forced to think as both an artist and a businessman. Asking myself “How can I get my name out there AND make some money at the same time so these lights don’t get cut off. Lol.”
The Biz: You’ve inspired some articles I’ve written about misogyny and the way women are portrayed and treated in hip-hop. I really dig your approach to these topics. It’s rare that someone expresses positivity the way you do. Even most “conscious” rappers are guilty of throwing them under the bus. For some strange reason, that’s what seems to sell. What gave you the confidence to present your message the way you do despite how unpopular it seems to be?
