Discloses Past Meeting With Conservative Leader David Cameron

CHICAGO – While many Hip Hop fans and most Americans may be unfamiliar with the United Kingdom’s brand new Prime Minister, David Cameron, Grammy Award winner Rhymefest can trace his history with the Conservative British leader back to a controversial 2006 meeting in London. After Cameron complained that rap music “encourages people to carry guns and knives,” Rhymefest wrote to the English politician. From there, Cameron arranged to hear Rhymefest’s point of view over a cup of tea at the Commons.
Despite the Labour Party’s Stephen Pound labeling the meeting “a step too far” in striving to gain the youth vote, David Cameron expressed that meeting with Rhymefest was “very positive.” The two agreed about the existence of violence in rap, while disagreeing on some of the motives behind the lyrics. Overall, the sit-down was productive, as Rhymefest described “discussion is revolution. Discussion is what will solve the problems of poverty and violence.”
Rhymefest hopes to continue the discussion with David Cameron as he takes his new position as the U.K.’s newly appointed Prime Minister. With Rhymefest’s sophomore album, El Che, seeing a June 8th release date, the Chicago emcee plans to send Cameron a copy of the 16 track effort to listen to in his office. Though Cameron has suddenly inherited great responsibilities, Rhymefest is confident that the two shall meet again to discuss Hip Hop over tea.

Rhymefest’s The Letter

“This song (“Letter”) was recorded for the “El Che” album while I was still on Allido Records with live vocals from John Mayer.” If the fans really dig the record, I will release a follow-up statement addressing the Wale situation (how he came about recording his version of “Letter”) in the immediate future.”

RHYMEFEST EL CHE ON MAY 18TH

rhymefest el che RHYMEFEST EL CHE ON MAY 18THRHYMEFEST TO RELEASE LONG AWAITED SOPHOMORE LP EL CHE ON MAY 18TH

Sophomore Album to Drop on Indie Label dN|Be Entertainment

CHICAGO – Grammy Award winner, Rhymefest, will release his highly anticipated album El Che on May 18, 2010 via dN|Be Entertainment. Distributed by EMI, in conjunction with Rosehip Records.

The full length LP features production from beatsmiths Scram Jones, S1, BKS, and Terry Hunter. The 16-track opus also boasts guest appearances from Little Brother, Saigon, Glen Lewis, and fellow Chicago emcee Twone Gabz.

The follow up to his critically acclaimed Blue Collar LP, Rhymefest’s El Che promises to deliver raw lyrics over epic production. Hip Hop lovers should expect to hear an unfiltered Rhymefest, liberated from the corporate suits and oppressive ideas of the prevailing record industry. As dN|Be Entertainment’s flagship artist, the Chicago emcee now has full creative control over his projects. When questioned about his new partnership with dN|Be Entertainment, Rhymefest mentioned “I wanted to be somewhere that not only appreciates artistry, lyricism, and originality, but also serves a greater purpose in Hip Hop and the Black community.”

In anticipation of El Che’s release, dN|Be Entertainment has launched the interactive website ElCheTheMovement.com. Fans can connect with Rhymefest through the website’s blog, videos, streaming music, and social networking links to Facebook and Twitter. Exclusive content concerning the El Che LP will be uploaded daily.

Rhymefest’s tour dates (including Austin’s SXSW) can also be found there. Finally, Rhymefest will be releasing his last pre-album mixtape titled DANGEROUS: 5-18 on ElCheTheMovement.com this spring.
